Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its monthly music programme, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra, along with BVB Bengaluru and Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru, has organised Bhakti Sangeetha by Vidu. Spoorthi Rao at BVB premises in Vijayanagar 1st Stage, on Mar. 16 at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by C.V. Shruthi on violin and Aduthurai G. Guruprasadh on mridanga.
Spoorthi Rao, 18, is a student of Vidushis Ranjani-Gayatri for the last 9 years. Initiated into music by her mother, she started formal training in devotional music from Parthu Nemani, Narahari Dixit and Karnatak vocal from Vidu. Yashasvi Subbarao in Bengaluru.
After winning the reality show Super Singer Junior 4 at age 9, her family moved to Chennai to nurture her talent. She performed a world tour with cine music stalwarts in London, Australia, Singapore, Canada and Sri Lanka as part of Super Singer and recently, completed her maiden Karnatak USA Spring Tour with over 15 concerts in April-May 2023.
She gave her debut Karnatak vocal concert in RR Sabha in 2019, after which she has been performing full-house concerts in many prestigious venues.
C.V. Shruthi, 23, born in a music family, has been interested in music from her childhood. She started learning vocal from her grandfather and violin at the age of 10 from Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy. Presently she is undergoing music training under Vidu. Akkarai Sisters. She is an A Grade artiste of AIR-Mysuru and has won several awards and accolades.
Aduthurai G. Guruprasadh, a Karnatak classical music percussionist is known for his proficiency in playing mridanga. Born on May 27, 1995, he hails from Aduthurai but later moved to Chennai to pursue both his studies and musical career. He completed his B.Com in Banking Management from D.G. Vaishnav College and MA in Rythmology from Madras University. His musical lineage traces back to his father’s uncle, Kunisseri U. Krishnamani Iyer, who is the Guru of Mannargudi A. Easwaran. He received his initial training under Kumbakonam K. Swaminathan and is currently under Sangeetha Choodamani Mannargudi A. Easwaran.
