Mysore/Mysuru: The Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of Vidu. S.P. Soundarya, disciple of Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, will be held at Jaganmohan Palace auditorium in city on Apr. 7 at 5.30 pm under the aegis of Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre (VPAC), Mysuru.
Kannada and Culture Department Director Dr. Dharanidevi Malagathi will inaugurate the event. Paediatrician Dr. U.G. Shenoy and Nrityagiri Academy Director Dr. Kripa Phadke will be the chief guests. Kaynes Technology Chairman and VPAC&C President Savitha Ramesh will preside.
Daughter of S.P. Mamatha and Sunilduth Panapil, Vidu. Soundarya will be accompanied by Dr. Vasundhara on natuvanga, Vidu. Deepti Srinath on vocal, Vid. M. Janardhan Rao on mridanga, Vid. Nitish Ammannaya on flute and Vid. Vinay Rangadol on rhythm pad.
Profile: Soundarya’s journey in Bharatanatyam commenced at the tender age of 4 under Dr. Vasundhara, who is also her parental aunt. She has completed her Junior, Senior and Vidwat exams conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) with distinction. She has secured 6th rank in BE in Electronics and Instrumentation from JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru. Currently she works as an Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
She has also represented Mysuru in State-level Chess and is trained in Karnatak Music. She has performed at Chiguru Sanje, Pallavothsava, Natarajothsava, Vasundharothsava, Mysuru Dasara, Beluru Mahotsava, Basadi Rathothsava Moodbidri, at Kathmandu in Nepal and more.
Soundarya is part of her Guru’s dance troupe which will be performing at Ayodhya for Ramothsava.
