Bengaluru: A day after Bhavani Revanna, wife of MLA and former Minister H.D. Revanna, declared that she would be contesting from Hassan Assembly segment, JD(S) Legislature party leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) has ruled out the contest of Bhavani from Hassan.
Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Kumaraswamy said everyone aspires to contest the polls and Bhavani is no exception.
Pointing out that he himself would have declared the candidature of Bhavani if it was inevitable for the party to field her from Hassan, he said there is no such inevitability for the party right now.
Referring to his wife Anitha’s contest from Madhugiri in the 2008 Assembly bypolls, Kumaraswamy said it was inevitable to field her as the party’s chosen candidate Veerabhadraiah, a Government servant who had resigned, failed to get approval of his voluntary retirement from the Government.
Defending Anitha’s candidature then, the former CM said that, however, Veerabhadraiah was nominated as the party’s candidate in the 2013 Assembly polls even though Anitha was a sitting MLA from Madhugiri then.
