Mysore/Mysuru: Bhoomigiri Narayanappa Award was conferred on three achievers from different fields — Senior Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, Tandavapura MIT Engineering College Principal Dr. Y.T. Krishnegowda and writer B.K. Meenakshi — at a programme organised under the joint aegis of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Bhoomigiri Narayanappa Pratishtana at Kannada Sahitya Bhavan in Vijayanagar First Stage here recently.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, MLA K. Harishgowda said that a Kannada Sahitya Sammelana would be organised in Chamaraja Constituency in the coming days.
Stating that Literary Meets used to be held frequently in the past, he stressed on the need for Kannada Literature to get back its past glory.
MLC C.N. Manjegowda, who spoke after releasing ‘Gaana-Nandana’ logo, said that it is important to share knowledge.
Observing that money and blood should not be stored at one place, he said that it should be kept in mind that these two would re-develop after they are distributed.
Regretting that we have entered the era where we are sending our aged parents to shelter homes, he stressed on the need for introducing personalities like Bhoomigiri Narayanappa to the next generation as it would help in social transformation. He also highlighted that Education and Health should be given more importance in future.
Veteran Litterateur Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) released the new year calendar brought out by Bhoomigiri Narayanappa Pratishtana on the occasion.
Past Lions District Governor Nagaraj V. Bairy, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mysuru President Maddikere Gopal, former President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, social worker K. Raghuram were present on the occasion.
Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, N. Bettegowda, Dr. B.N. Raveesh, Dr. A.S. Poornima, Srilatha and C.S. Vani presented musical evening.
