Pandavapura: In a bid to dispel fears among residents after the tragic bus tragedy, villagers of Kanaganamaradi performed the Shanti Homa at the tragic spot near Visvesvaraya Canal in the taluk recently.
Hundreds of people led by the village heads Basavegowda, Shivannegowda and Krishnamurthy performed the Homa from 9 am till 12 noon.
It may be recalled that over 30 persons including children belong to Vadesamudra, Kanaganamaradi and other villagers had died after the ill-fated private bus in which they were travelling plunged into the canal on Nov.24.
Pujas like Swathi Punyaha, Panchagavya Prothsaha, Mrityunjaya Homa, Rakshosagna, Vasthu Homa, Agora Asthra Kshetrapala, Asthakalaka Homa, Buthochchataneya Homa, Pradhana Grama Devathe Homa, Ankanatheshara Homa, Shuddha Ganapathi Homa, Maha Ganapathi Homa were performed to remove fear among the people of the region.
Panic-stricken people residing in Kanaganamaradi and its surrounding villages, other road users were living in constant fear of spirits after the tragedy. Even, several farmers feared to go to their fields during night with children, women and aged still in shock. They were struggling come to terms after the incident.
Much to people’s belief, repeated accidents were also occurring near the spot. A scooter and a car had also toppled near the tragic spot after three days of tragic incident thus increasing fear among the villagers. However, four priests performed Shanthi Homa to remove the fears. Prior to Homa, a nine married women brought holy water and performed the ‘Cow Puja.’
