Vidyaranyapuram Police have arrested a person on charges of stealing two-wheelers and have seized four bikes worth about Rs. 1.5 lakh from him.
The arrested person has been identified as 26-year-old Chandrashekhar alias Chandra, a resident of Dattagalli in city.
It is reported that Vidyaranyapuram Police, who were conducting checking on Manandavadi Road on Friday night, stopped Chandrashekhar, who was riding a Bajaj Pulsar bike and asked him to produce the vehicle document.
The Police, who grew suspicious, as Chandrashekhar was unable to produce the document, took him into their custody and during interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of stealing a bike each in Saraswathipuram, Mandi Mohalla, Vidyaranyapuram and Kuvempunagar Police limits besides selling the stolen bikes for Rs. 6,000 at Belawadi here. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Cops have recovered four bikes.
A case has been registered at Vidyaranyapuram Police Station in this regard.
