Mysore/Mysuru: Noted film director Girish Kasaravalli emphasised that film roles and shooting locations do not come about by chance but require extensive exploration.
He made these remarks during a panel discussion on film production this morning, the concluding day of the Mysuru Literature Festival.
Kasaravalli highlighted the importance of ‘Bimba’ (image) and ‘Bimbana’ (similar image), stating that these concepts are crucial in filmmaking and require diligent pursuit. According to him, the scriptwriting process, which can span months, involves envisioning characters and locations that align with the filmmaker’s vision.
“Based on the mental image we create, we scout for locations and meticulously match roles to them. This process demands careful consideration and foresight, illustrating the effort involved in creating a film that resonates with audiences,” he explained.
Kasaravalli stressed the importance of films conveying meaningful messages to society. Writer Gopalkrishna Pai and actress Deepa Ravishankar also participated in the discussion.
