Mysuru: The State Government has already implemented Biometric Attendance System (BAS) in all Government offices and colleges for the staff and officers.
However, the implementation of the system in PU Colleges was in the process of completion and the Department of PU Education is now going all out to implement BAS in all Government, Aided and Unaided PU Colleges in the State.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, DDPUE Dr. Dayananda said: “The district has 250 PU Colleges covering Government, Aided and Unaided institutions.
The implementation of BAS for faculty and staff is almost complete in Government and Aided PU Colleges but is gradually picking up in Unaided PU Colleges.
The biometric equipment have been supplied to all institutions. However, there are some technical glitches at a few institutions. Theft of the installed equipment is also a problem coupled with frequent power shut-down.”
“As soon as the PU Colleges re-open, the details will be received about BAS from all Unaided institutions and all the problems being encountered would be addressed with total implementation of BAS in all PU Colleges.
All Government and Aided PU Colleges have been instructed to submit the report of attendance of faculty and staff recorded through BAS to the Department before May 20,” explained Dr. Dayananda adding that the BAS would be linked to salaries to bring in punctuality among the faculty and staff of PU Colleges.
