Mysuru: To encourage health centres providing good family planning service in the district, Egender Health Institute (EHI) had organised a function at a private hotel in city recently to present awards to performing hospitals in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts.
In Mysuru district, T. Narasipur General Hospital was adjudged the best in implanting Postpartum Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (PPIUCD) and intermediate IUCD, Cheluvamba Hospital for administering birth control injection and for best counselling centre; Dr. Puttathayamma, Medical Officer, Nanjangud General Hospital (for PPIUCD implantation) and T. Narasipur General Hospital Nurse Jayanti in the nursing section.
In Chamarajanagar district, Chamarajanagar District Hospital was adjudged the best for PPIUCD and IUCD implantation, birth control injection and best counselling centre, Dr. P. Bharati of the same hospital for PPIUCD implantation and Rani, nurse from Kollegal, in the nursing section.
Speaking on the occasion, Mysuru district Family Welfare Officer Dr. Mohammad Siraj Ahmed asked women to be aware of various birth control and spacing methods to plan their families which were proved safe for health.
He said Anganwadi activists have been groomed in that context to create awareness among rural women. He added that cash incentives of Rs.300 would be given to women going in for PPIUCD, Rs.150 for the corresponding doctor and Rs.150 for the referring person.
He commended T. Narasipur Hospital for implanting PPIUCD for 92 women in just 6 months.
Mysuru DHO Dr. Venkatesh, Chamarajanagar DHO Dr. Ravi, Family Officer Dr. Ankappa, EHI Welfare Project Co-ordinator Dr. Dhanyakumar and Taluk Health Officials were present.
