Mysuru – The Karavali Samskruthika Chavadi, Hootagalli, celebrated Bisu Parbha- – 2017 for the first time in city at Sri Mahaganapathi Temple in KHB Colony this morning.
Tuluvas, dressed in traditional attire, displayed Bisu Kani at the Temple. Bisu Parbha is celebrated as New Year in parts of Tulu Nadu (Dakshina Kannada/Mangaluru, Udupi and Kasaragod).
Tuluva delicacy Moode is prepared on the occasion. Traditionally Bisu marks the beginning of agricultural activities for the year. The Chavadi has also organised traditional sports like hitting coconuts, thapangayi, lagori and many other games and cultural programmes at its premises from 3 pm which will be inaugurated by Shiva Prasad Mada of Prasad Builders, Mysuru. Ashok Kumar Shetty, President, Karavali Samskruthika Chavadi, will preside. Harsha Melanta, proprietor of Fish Curry Rice & Hotel By The Way, Dr. Dinesh Shetty, Hon. President of Karavali Samskruthika Chavadi and Dhananjaya Nelliyadi will be the chief guests.
Resource person Udaya Dharmasthala will speak on Bisu Parbha on the occasion.
