New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to rule Delhi’s Municipal Corporation (MCD) for the next five years after the party is leading by huge margins in 186 seats combining all three civic bodies (North Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi).
The elections were held in 270 seats in all three civic bodies recently.
The results came as a major setback for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which had earlier expressed confidence of taking over the reins of MCD polls. Meanwhile, Ajay Maken stepped down as the Chief of Congress party in Delhi holding himself responsible for the defeat.
