Blend of dance, music entertain connoisseurs at Palace stage

Mysuru: Amid rains, music concerts and dance performances, marked the third day of Dasara Cultural programmes in front of Mysore Palace yesterday evening.

Actress Manasa Joshi, a theatre and small screen artiste, with her troupe of dancers, performed Kathak to the rendition of Tarana in Hindustani classical music style, to the applause of the gathering. They also danced symmetrically for ‘Krishnashtakam’ shloka, depicting the multipersonality of Lord Krishna, with eye catching moves.

Another dance performance for Kayo Sri Gowri, the State anthem of Wadiyars, the erstwhile royal family of Mysore and penned by Basavappa Shastri, left the audience awe struck, who appreciated with a standing ovation. Music Director Praveen D. Rao had composed the anthem suiting Kathak style of dance. It was followed by Bharatanatyam dance by K.L. Hamsalekha and troupe from Mandya, to the rendition of music in classical style.

A light music concert by Usha U. Karanth, classical music concert by Aditya Srinidhi Thayur, violin-sarod jugalbandi by Vidwan Mysore N. Karthik and Indrayudh Majumdar were the other notable cultural programmes.
