Mandya: A body of an unidentified man, chopped into five pieces, was found discarded in various spots near VC Canal in Keregodu Police limits of Mandya district on Wednesday.
A few villagers, who noticed a few body parts floating in the canal, informed the Police, who rushed to the spot and conducted a search, during which a few more body parts were recovered.
The recovered body parts include hands, legs, head and stomach. While the hands were found near Danayakanapura village, legs near Shivaravillage and head near Koppa village.
The Police, after gathering the body parts, have shifted the same to MIMS Hospital Mortuary.
The deceased is said to be aged between 35 and 40 years and as the body parts were decomposed, the Police have suspected that the victim may have been murdered a few days ago.
Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Yathish, Dy.SP Omprakash and other Police personnel visited the spot.
The SP said that the body parts were found at different spots and added that search for the remains of the deceased is underway. He expressed confidence of cracking the case soon.
It may be recalled that chopped bodies of two women were found in Srirangapatna and Pandavapura taluk in June last year and the Police had successfully arrested the accused in this connection.
