Book launch in city on Sept. 16

Mysore/Mysuru: The book ‘Celebrating the Arts – Forty Years of the International Music and Arts Society in Bangalore,’ authored by Urmila Devi Kotda Sangani, Indira Brunner Chandrasekhar and Prateeti Punja Ballal, will be released at a programme organised by His Highness Sri Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Foundation (HHSNW Foundation) at Jaganmohan Palace Auditorium in city on Sept. 16 at 6 pm.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, President of HHSNW Foundation, will launch the book, which encapsulates the 40-year history of International Music and Arts Society (IMAS) and traces its journey from how it was started and has evolved over the years. It features a selection of over 130 events that IMAS has organised.

IMAS was founded by Rani Vijaya Devi Kotda Sangani in Bangalore in December 1974, on the suggestion of her brother, the late Maharaja of Mysore, Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar. Since its inception, IMAS has remained dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of  arts for contemporary audiences while carrying forward the legacy of culture of the Mysore Palace.

Authors Urmila Devi Kotda Sangani, Indira Brunner Chandrasekhar and Prateeti Punja Ballal will be present during the book launch and share their thoughts about the book.

Karnataka Police Band (formerly Mysore Palace Band) will be performing selected Kritis composed by late Jayachamaraja Wadiyar at the event. For details, contact Mob: 99806-56631.
