Mysuru: Tanu Manu Prakashana and Kannada Sahitya Kalaakoota had organised a programme at Maneyangala in Kalamandira premises here Friday for the release of the book ‘Mookajjige Aivattu’ edited by G.S. Bhatta.
The book is a compilation of analysis and critiques of about 16 writers over the book ‘Mookajjiya Kanasugalu’, the novel of late Dr. Shivaram Karanth released 50 years ago.
Speaking after releasing the book, littérateur Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar hailed the multi-faceted personality of Dr. Shivaram Karanth and said that Karanth was like Leonardo da Vinci who was a scientist, painter and an artiste too. He pointed out that literary works may age but never die. He recalled the role of Karanth in art, literature, music, theatre, Yakshagana, movies, education, science and not even sparing politics, having contested and lost in an election. He said that ‘Mookajjiya Kanasugalu’ fetched Jnanpith award for Karanth but that was not necessarily the best work of Karanth, he remarked and added that ‘Marali Mannige’ and ‘Chomana Dudi’ were brilliant works of Karnath.
KSOU DoS in Kannada Chairperson Dr. Kavitha Rai spoke about the book. Scholar Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj, Editor of the book G.S. Bhatta, former District KSP President M. Chandrashekar, Publisher Manasa and others were present.
