Mysuru: Kutumba Rakshana Vedike had organised a function at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar here yesterday for the release of the book ‘Namma Habbagalu’ written by Dr. Manjula Umesh who is also the President of the Vedike.
Inaugurating the programme, former District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal said that 19 popular festivals have been well-explained in the book and added that the book would also assist research work.
He opined that a good family bonding would give a special meaning to all festivals.
National Book Trust of India Advisor Dr. M. Kannika released the book.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manjula Umesh thanked her mother for giving the important inputs of festivals to come out with the book. She opined that books other than casual reading should also portray the culture and tradition of the society derived from our ancestors.
She added that every festival has a good background and purpose, which should be analysed and understood.
Writer Dr. K. Anusuya presided. Umesh and others were present.
