Book on Diabetes released

Mysuru: Maintaining that changing life styles, improper food habits and a mechanical life full of celerity, are the main causes for diabetes and heart ailments, Mysuru Jayadeva Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. K.S. Sadananda expressed concerns over the rise in heart problems among people of young age groups.

He was speaking after releasing Health Writer and Nutritionist Nandini Murthy’s work titled ‘Madhumeha – Margadarshi  Sutragalu’ at a programmed organised by Sunamshri Prakashana at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road here yesterday.

Noting that the sudden death of Sandalwood star Puneeth Rajkumar due to cardiac arrest has caused tension and anxiety among people, Dr. Sadananda said that the actor’s death has made people line up before Hospitals to have a thorough check up of their heart.

Dr. Nandini Murthy’s work is informative about the causes and remedies for the dreaded diabetes disease, he added.

Former University of Mysore and KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa, in his address, said that the number of people catching diabetes is increasing by the day. Observing that consumption of unhealthy foods is the main cause for diabetes and heart-related ailments, he stressed on the need for getting treated early.

Pointing out that it is important for everyone to have a fundamental understanding on the causes for diabetes as well as the available remedies, Prof. Rangappa said that Nandini Murthy’s work comes in handy in this regard. He wished that the author comes up with more such informative and educative books on health issues.

Noted Diabetologist Dr. M.A. Shekar, who also spoke, gave some tips on controlling diabetes.

Mysore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, the book author Nandini Murthy, singer Shambavamurthy and others were present during the book launch.
