Mysore/Mysuru: “Natural resources are being eroded because of rapid and progressive industrial development in the country. Industrialisation is one of the key factors spoiling the tangible and intangible cultural heritage,” said Prof. Muzaffer Assadi, Professor of Political Science, University of Mysore.
He was speaking at the book release event of Dr. D.C. Nanjunda’s works titled, ‘Apoorva Jharkhand’ and ‘Hadhinentaneya Aksharekhe’ at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here recently.
Prof. Assadi opined that due to industrialisation, tribals are facing identity crisis. He said strong political governance has a close connection with the development of the country.
Dr. Bhargavi D. Hemmige, Associate Professor, Jain University, Bengaluru, said, “through Tourism industry, rapid inclusive development is possible. We have to focus on more potential local tourist places. Many foreign countries are being sustained in the name of Tourism. Rather than visiting abroad, our people should visit places within India.” She also added that North Karnataka has a lot of potential to be developed as a tourist hub.
R. Raghu, Chairman, Kautilya Institutions, Mysuru, said, “Quality primary education is must for rapid inclusive development. Government must focus on the education of marginalised people,” and added that it is essential for the Government to promote heritage sites considering their historical and cultural significance.
Dr. D.C. Nanjunda, Associate Professor, Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, opined that the Government should provide additional infrastructure to tourism for the improvement of the local economy.
Dr. Lancy D’Souza, Professor of Psychology, Maharaja’s College, Mysuru, was also present.
