Book vehicles with modified lights

Sir,

Like the ‘high beam’ menace, another menace is the use of different types of LED lights fixed at the front or at the rear of the vehicles. Some motorists have fixed decorative LED strobe lights or flash lights to the brake, causing optical disturbance to other motorists.

Though these vehicles can boast of higher decorative value with such lights, they are causing nuisance to other motorists and is certainly against the rules.

As per the automotive safety regulations under Indian Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act), we are not supposed to replace or modify the lights supplied by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The lights fixed by the OEMs are as per the safety regulations under MV Act and it is illegal to use alternate bulbs and also additional lights.

This blatant violation of using extra brake lights or front panel lights are clearly visible during day times. It is definitely not a herculean task for the authorities concerned to notice this and book such motorists for the rules violations. By doing so, they will be helping other motorists.
