Mysuru: To create interest among children on the great social reformer Basavanna and his Vachanas, Mysore Art Gallery has brought out an 18-page book of line sketches of Basavanna which can be coloured, exclusively for children.
The line sketches include Vachanakara Basavanna as Vishwmanava, Kayakajeevi, one who showed Ishtalinga puja method and many more. The Vachanas of Basavanna are also included in the book with meanings. Mysore Art Gallery President L. Shivalingaiah is instrumental in bringing out the book.
Releasing the book at the Gallery premise in city on Sunday, retired Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture M.G. Sadananadaiah opined that drawing makes a good impact on the minds of children and colouring them would further enhance the impact. He observed that an awareness of Basavanna’s Vachanas should be made in children.
Hiranmayi Prathishtana President Sangappa presided. Sharanu Vishwavachana Foundation Director Vachana Kumaraswamy, Gallery President Shivalingaiah, Secretary Dr. Jamunarani Mirle, Prabha Shivalingaiah and others were present.
Colouring Contest
Mysore Art Gallery has organised a colouring contest of sketches of Basavanna and Vachana Gayana for students at Nataraja Vidya Samsthe in city on May 5 at 10 am.
