Auto driver, Police reunite boy with parents

Mysore/Mysuru: A 14-year-old boy, who had left his home in Belagavi two days ago and found crying at the City Bus Stand, was rescued by an auto driver and handed over to Devaraja Police, who in turn have reunited the boy with his parents.

While the boy has been identified as Shivaraj Mahalinga Melamatti of Belagavi, the auto driver, who rescued him and handed him over to the Police is Harish Kumar.

Two days ago, Shivaraj, who  left his home for tuitions, accidentally reached Belagavi Railway Station where he boarded a train and landed in Mysuru. He somehow reached the City Bus Stand and as it was a new place for Shivaraj, he did not know where to go and began to cry, which was noticed by auto driver Harish.

Harish, who enquired the boy, brought him to Devaraja Police Station. When the Police enquired the boy, he told the Cops that his father’s name was Mahalinga Melamatti and told the Police his address as Yava Kanamaradi of Hukkeri taluk in Belagavi district.

Devaraja Police, who swung into action, contacted their counterparts in Belagavi and gave them the mobile phone number given by Shivaraj. Belagavi Police, who contacted the boy’s Uncle Neelakanta Podi, informed him that Shivaraj was in Mysuru and asked him to contact Devaraja Police in Mysuru. Accordingly, Neelakanta contacted Devaraja Police, reached Mysuru and took Shivaraj with him to Belagavi.

Devaraja Inspector T.B. Shivakumar and Sub-Inspector Jaikeerthi thanked auto driver Harish Kumar for his concern towards the boy and helping the boy reunite with his parents.
