Parents and relatives of a 7-year-old boy staged a protest in front of Cauvery Hospital in city yesterday alleging negligence by doctors that caused death of the boy. The boy has been identified as Bhupin, son of Mukesh, a newspaper distributor in Kushalnagar.
According to the parents, Bhupin was admitted to the hospital on the Bannur Road on Mar. 3 as he was suffering from kidney-related problems. He was taken to the Operation Theatre (OT) in the evening. Parents claimed that their son’s condition worsened inside the OT that led to his death while the doctors at the hospital kept on assuring them that their son was stable and was under observation.
The parents claimed that the doctors shifted their son to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) without informing them. The doctors assured the parents that the boy was recuperating and yesterday morning, the doctors asked the parents to shift the boy to some other hospital, they alleged. Yesterday evening the doctors told the parents that Bhupin had died.
Enraged by this, parents and relatives stormed to the hospital entrance and broke flower pots and they alleged negligence. As the situation turned tense, the Police rushed to the spot. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of the doctors responsible for the death. The parents alleged that the hospital authorities even offered to bear the expenses of treatment at another hospital.
DCP N. Rudramuni said that they have registered a case based on the complaint filed by the parents against Dr. G. Chandrashekhar, Dr. Sarala Chandrashekhar, Dr. Keshava, Dr. Aravind, Dr. Shivu and Dr. Vaidyanathan.
