Brahmakumaris celebrate Raksha Bandhan

Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Prajapita Brahmakumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya celebrated Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi Festival), dedicated to brothers and sisters, by tying rakhi to journalists at its premises in Yadavagiri here yesterday.

Brahmakumari Lakshmiji tied rakhi to Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) President S.T. Ravikumar to mark the celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Lakshmiji said that Raksha Bandhan is an auspicious day during which a sister ties a thread on her brother’s wrist and prays for his long and prosperous life.

Highlighting the objective behind the tying of rakhi, she said that the Vidyalaya is celebrating this important festival by tying rakhi to journalists, thus sending a message on brotherhood.

Noting that it is common to see a brother giving a token of love to his sister who tied rakhi on him, Lakshmiji said that she has prayed the almighty for the welfare of the whole of society.

Regretting that people nowadays are tending to forget our rich culture and heritage, she appealed the people to develop good habits and cultivate a helping nature and thus be blessed by the almighty.

MDJA General Secretary M. Subramanya, Photographer M.N. Lakshminarayana Yadav, Jayaram, Brahmakumaris Meena and Sharada, Brahmakumara Ranganath and others were present.
