Mysuru – A doctor serving at K.R. Hospital in city was on Wednesday trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs. 26,000 to perform a surgery on an accident victim. Dr. Puttaswamy, Head of the Orthopaedics Department at K.R. Hospital, is the one who is trapped.
Shivakumar of Kumbralli in Nanjangud taluk was admitted to K.R. Hospital for serious leg injuries sustained in a road mishap about 12 days ago.
Dr. Puttaswamy had refused to perform the much needed surgery until he was paid a bribe of Rs. 26,000.
As Dr. Puttaswamy persisted with his demand for bribe, Raju of Kudigehalli in Bengaluru, a relative of Shivakumar, after agreeing to pay the bribe, lodged a complaint with the ACB. Dr. Puttaswamy was caught red-handed by the ACP Cops while accepting the bribe at his clinic on Sayyaji Rao Road last evening.
ACB SP B.T. Kavitha supervised Dy.SP Shailendra and Inspectors Anil Kumar and Vinay during the raid.
