Bribe to issue warrant: Mandya ACB Police traps Maddur Head Constable

Mysore/Mysuru: A Head Constable (HC), attached to Maddur Police Station, who had demanded bribe to issue a warrant to the accused in a cheque bounce case, was caught red handed by the Mandya Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Police while receiving a bribe of Rs. 1,500 from the complainant outside Maddur Town Court on Tuesday.

The HC, who was caught receiving the bribe, is Srikant (HC-49).

Details: One Anand, a resident of Swami Vivekananda Nagar in Maddur town, had filed a cheque bounce case against one Boregowda at the Maddur Town Civil and JMFC Court and the Court had ordered to issue a warrant against Boregowda and produce him before the Magistrate on May 2. But Head Constable Srikant, on July 30 demanded Rs. 2,000 bribe from Anand to issue the warrant to Boregowda and finally settled the bribe money to Rs. 1,500 following which Anand lodged a complaint with Mandya ACB Police on Monday.

ACB Police, who had registered a case, trapped Head Constable Srikant when he was receiving the bribe of Rs. 1,500 outside Maddur Court yesterday, conducted an enquiry and produced him before the Magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.

Mandya ACB SP V.J. Sajith guided Dy.SP Mathew Thomas, Inspectors Vinodraj and Purushotham and staff in the operation.
