Mysuru: D.S. Sai Prajwal, a II PU student of Vijaya Vittala Composite PU College, gave a brilliant flute recital at the college auditorium after the inauguration of the ‘Fine Arts Club’ of the institution.
Sai Prajwal began the day’s performance with traditional Varna, composed in Natikuranji raga. His next performance was to seek the blessings of Sharade, the Goddess of Knowledge with the famous Kanakadasa composition “Nammamma Sharade” set to Hamsadhvani Raaga, Adi Taala.
Next was the famous composition of Muthuswami Dikshitar ‘Vatapi Ganpatim’ in which the variations of the raga with ease and expertise were well played with good alaapane, swara prasthana and neraval modulated with equal expertise by the artistes in mridanga and tabla.
Following this was the famous song of Purandaradasa “Pillangoviya chelva Krishnana” with fine notations of bhakti and divinity. He concluded the programme with the most popular Purandaradasa composition “Bhagyada Lakshmi Baaramma” presented with easy expertise and pace and won a big round of applause from the audience.
Sai Prajwal was accompanied by Aravinda Malladi on mridanga and Sujayeendra Rao on tabla.
Sai Prajwal, son of D.N. Sai Prakash and A. Devika, began learning classical music from late Vidwan A.V. Prakash since his childhood. He has completed junior and senior exams in flute. Presently, he is learning flute from A.V. Krishna Prasad and has performed in many programmes all over the State.
