Mysuru: A man and a woman from England entered into wedlock under the ‘Mantra Mangalya’ concept and as per Indian tradition at a rehabilitation centre run by an NGO in city yesterday.
The woman was Fritha Vincent, 38, a social entrepreneur and founder of ‘Secret Pillow’ project, who got married to Olafa Mason, 41, a carpenter. The two are said to be long-time friends and had decided to get married in India as per local tradition.
‘Mantra Mangalya,’ a concept of marriage was advocated by Kuvempu which has no vedic rituals or chanting of Sanskrit hymns.
The British couple exchanged marriage vows with social activist P. Mallesh reciting the lines from the novel ‘Mantra Mangalya.’
Fritha Vincent has been working for the welfare of tribal women in South India through her ‘Secret Pillow’ project. She is also associated with Adventure Ashram based in Tamil Nadu.
