Brothers suffer huge loss as miscreants chop off grown up butter fruit plants

Mysuru: Brothers, who had grown butter fruit plants in the farm at D. Salundi, Jayapura hobli in the taluk, suffered huge loss as miscreants have chopped off the plants overnight.

The brothers, who suffered loss, are Basappa and Basavaraju, sons of Basavegowda of D. Salundi village.

Basappa and Basavaraju, who had planted coconut saplings in 1 acre and 10 gunta land at Kenchalagudu, had also planted 80 butter fruit plants in the land about one-and-a-half year back, which had grown about 4 ft. tall. These plants were supposed to yield fruits in a year or two.

On Dec. 14 evening, the brothers, after irrigating the plants, returned home for the night and when they came to their field the next day, they found all the butter fruit plants chopped off, following which Basavaraju lodged a complaint at Jayapura Police Station stating that he and his brother had suffered a loss of Rs. 2 lakh.

Based on the complaint from Basavaraju, Jayapura Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
