BSF soldier killed in accident

Gonikoppal: A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was killed in an accident involving two two-wheelers near Hathur village in Kodagu district last evening.

The victim has been identified as Charimanda Appi Thimmaiah (44), a resident of Patel Nagar in Gonikoppal. He was returning from Virajpet in his Honda Activa scooter after attending to some personal work when the accident took place at around 4.30 pm. He was hit by a Hero Honda Splendour by Abdul Rehman of Kondangeri village.

The Police said the impact of the collision was such that Thimmaiah sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot with his helmet broken into pieces. Abdul Rehman and his pillion rider Mujeeb too sustained injuries.  

Thimmaiah is survived by wife Pavithra, mother Ponnamma and two children Gourav Ganapathy and Krisha Dechamma. Thimmaiah was posted in Chhattisgarh and was with the BSF 19th battalion.

He recently took leave to come home to perform the last rites of his father Subbaiah who passed away on July 11. He was supposed to leave to his work place today.
