‘Buildings must be eco-friendly than Vastu compliant’

Mysuru: The construction of buildings must be based on the surroundings and its environment than being Vastu compliant, said Architect G.K. Sudheendra.

He was delivering a talk on ‘Role of Vastu Shilpa Shastra in present times,’ at the Institution of Engineers auditorium on JLB Road here on May 22 and said that before the builders and contractors, an architect becomes relevant.

The reason he pointed out was because, first the building’s architecture becomes very important. Without the design of the building in place, there will be lot of problems during construction, he added.

Instead, if the buildings are constructed according to the design provided by the architect, then the cost of the building becomes economical. Otherwise, more money has to be spent. Besides, these days, fake Vastu Shilpis are on the raise, he warned.

The design of a house or a building is the responsibility of the architect. However, the architect must be involved in all stages of completion of the project, said Sudheendra.

These days the number of posh buildings and houses are going up. However, what must be noted is that such buildings must meet environment standards. Including solar, other eco-friendly measures must be adopted in the designs itself, he said.

Institution of Engineers-India, Mysuru, Chairman Dr. R. Suresh, Honorary Secretary D.K. Dinesh Kumar and others were present.
