Mysore/Mysuru: The Bunts community, which has a large presence in Coastal Karnataka, has demanded inclusion of the community under 2a reservation category.
Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Mysore Bunts Sangha President T. Prabhakar Shetty said that the community is classified under Category 3b. Maintaining that though Bunts community appear to be financially sound at the outset, the fact is that about 60 percent of the community come under BPL, he noted.
Urging the Government to establish a Bunts Development Corporation just like the ones for other communities, Prabhakar Shetty said that though BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel and State Backward Classes Commission Chairman Jayaprakash Hegde belonged to the Bunts community, the much wanted Corporation is yet to be formed.
