Burglars caught within 38 hours of committing crime

Mysuru: Nazarbad Police have arrested two burglars, who had decamped with gold ornaments from a house in Siddarthanagar when those in the house were sleeping, and have recovered 250 grams gold ornaments and 2.5 kg silver articles, all worth Rs. 17 lakh, from them. The burglars were caught within 38 hours of committing the crime.

Those arrested are 47-year-old Mani alias S. Nagamani of N.R. Pettai, Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu and 44-year-old Ravikumar of Housing Board Colony in Nanjangud, Mysuru.

The accused, after breaking open the terrace door of the house belonging to 70-year-old Suguna, entered the house when the residents were sleeping and decamped with gold jewellery kept in the almirah. The theft came to light when the family members woke up in the morning. A complaint was lodged at Nazarbad Police Station.

Nazarbad Police, who registered a case, conducted an operation and arrested the two accused within 38 hours and on inspecting the house of accused Ravikumar, the Police found 250 grams gold ornaments and 2.5 kg silver articles, worth Rs. 17 lakh, in the house and seized them.
