Mysuru: A burglary case has been reported in Yelwal village of Mysuru taluk, where unidentified thieves broke into a house and made away with gold, silver and cash.
The house belongs to Shivakumar (50), a tailor residing on Nayakara Beedhi. According to his complaint, about 24 grams of gold ornaments, 400 grams of silver articles and Rs. 10,000 in cash were stolen.
On Sunday afternoon, Shivakumar and his family locked their house and left for an event in Bettadapura. When they returned on Monday morning and tried to open the door, they found it already ajar. Initially thinking they might have forgotten to lock it, they stepped inside — only to be shocked by what they saw.
The bedroom cupboard had been broken open and its contents scattered on the floor. Gold, silver and cash kept inside had been stolen. It was later confirmed that the burglars had forced the door open to gain entry. A case has been registered at the Yelwal Police Station, and an investigation is underway to trace the culprits.
