Srirangapatna: A KSRTC bus driver, who suffered low Blood Pressure (BP) and was about to fall unconscious, averted a major mishap from happening and has saved the lives of passengers.
The KSRTC bus attached to Nanjangud KSRTC Bus Depot left Mysuru with passengers to Bengaluru. When the bus neared Baburayanakoppal in Srirangapatna taluk, driver Manjunath began to suffer from blurred vision due to low BP and was about to faint.
But before fainting, Manjunath, who saw Lokapavani Bridge in front, hit a truck which was proceeding ahead of the bus, brought the bus to halt. Manjunath, who suffered injuries after hitting the truck, has been admitted to a hospital in Mysuru.
A bike was also caught under the bus and has been damaged. Had not Manjunath hit the truck and brought the bus to halt, the bus would have fallen from the bridge to the river below, which could have resulted in a major mishap and loss of lives.
The presence of mind displayed by the driver, which averted a major mishap from taking place, was lauded by the passengers and public.
Srirangapatna Rural Police, who visited the spot, have registered a case.
