Mysore/Mysuru: With the Government reasserting that the SSLC exams would be held as per schedule, Transport Minister Laxman Savadi said that the Transport Department was ready to provide convenient bus services for SSLC students appearing for the exam.
Speaking to press persons at the BJP office in Chamarajapuram here yesterday, Savadi said that he will hold talks with Primary and Secondary education Minister Suresh Kumar on providing bus services to SSLC students for reaching the exam centres from their place of stay. He further said that special focus would be on providing rural bus services during the exam.
Referring to the introduction of electric buses, the Minister said that it has been planned to operate electric buses in Bengaluru on an experimental basis, for which 300 buses would be purchased.
Noting that the Centre is offering subsidy for electric vehicles, he said that the Transport Corporations will soon start parcel and courier booking services for augmenting income.
