Mysore/Mysuru: Lakshmipuram Police have registered a case against the owner of a wine store and his friend for allegedly threatening a businessman who had paid Rs. 20 lakh to purchase the wine store and later asking the owner to return the money when the wine store owner delayed in handing over the wine store to him.
The businessman, who has been cheated, is Dhanraj, a resident of an apartment in Chamarajapuram in city.
According to the complaint, Dhanraj’s relative Puttaraju had introduced one Shivanna in 2019 and had informed him that Shivanna, who owns Sreenivasa Wine Store on Old Bus Stand Road in T. Narasipur, was selling it.
Accordingly, Shivanna received Rs. 20 lakh from Dhanraj on Aug. 7, 2019 towards the sale of the wine store and had asked Dhanraj to give him time till 2020 to get the wine store licence transferred to his (Dhanraj) name.
As Shivanna did not hand over the wine store to him, Dhanraj asked Shivanna to return Rs. 20 lakh with interest within one year. On Apr. 25, 2022, Dhanraj, along with his friends Srinivas and Narayan, met Shivanna and Puttaraju in front of a bar in city to discuss the issue, during which Shivanna and Puttaraju, abused Dhanraj using foul language and also threatened of murdering him, Dhanraj has stated in the complaint lodged with Lakshmipuram Police on May 9.
Lakshmipuram Police, who have registered a case against Shivanna and Puttaraju under IPC Section 406, 420, 504 and 506, are investigating.
