Busting of synthetic drugs unit in Hunsur: ABVP activists, students stage stir for stern action

Mysore/Mysuru: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists and students stated protest at N. Madhavrao Circle (Agrahara Circle) in the city yesterday, demanding adequate action against the culprits involved in the manufacturing of synthetic drugs, that was busted recently at a farm house in Hunsur in the district.

ABVP State Executive Member Meghana Kodabala said, the recent incident of drug racket is indeed a matter of concern, as the drug network has been pervading rural areas too. Such illicit activities targeting youths, is a threat for the  society.

Saying that, it is essential to curb substance abuse, by invoking stringent action, Kodabala said that it is also important to create awareness among people. Police should take stern action, along with the public and local administration, to effectively control such activities. Earlier, tension prevailed for some time, as the Police took exception to the participation of students in the protest. The students, who picked up a wordy duel with the Police, later concluded the protest.
