New Delhi: The by-polls to two Rajya Sabha seats in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh (UP), which fell vacant recently, will be held on Dec.12, announced Election Commission of India. The Karnataka seat fell vacant after Congress member K.C. Ramamurthy resigned to join the BJP.
Meanwhile, by-poll will also be held on the same day for the vacant seat from UP which fell vacant after Samajwadi Party member Tazeen Fatma resigned to contest the Rampur Assembly by-poll.
While the tenure of Ramamurthy was to end on June 30, 2022, the term of Fatma was to end on Nov. 25, 2020. Counting will take place same day after polling concludes.
