Mysuru: The Mysuru Branch of Southern India Regional Chapter (SIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) celebrated ‘Chartered Accountants Day’ at ICAI Bhavan, Bank Employees colony, Bogadi in the city this morning.
Speaking on the Guest of Honour on the occasion, Cotha S. Srinivas, SIRC Past Chairman, said that the day is more significant as it also marks the first anniversary of the introduction of GST (Goods and Services Tax) across the country. Pointing out that there were over 2.80 lakh qualified chartered accountants across the country, he said that with the rapid achievements in Science and Technology the CAs have to face new challenges every year and as such the CAs must equip themselves to successfully meet them
Highlighting the significance of the day, Cotha Srinivas exhorted the CAs to develop skills to match international standards of accounting.
SIRC Mysuru Chapter Chairman B.N. Chandrashekar, Secretary S.A. Vasudeva Rao, Treasurer Prakash, Vice-Chairman A. Vishwanath, SIRC Past Chairman S.K. Sanjay, Industrialist Chaya Nanjappa and others were present.
Later in the day, a cultural event has been organized.
In another event marking the CA day, Cotha Srinivas inaugurated a 5-day workshop on GST at SDM-MMK Womens College, Krishnamurthypuram.
The workshop titled ‘GST-For women empowerment through skill building’, is aimed at educating the Commerce students of the College on GST procedures and issues.
