The State Agriculture Department, which has introduced the revamped PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) for 2022-23 Kharif crop season, has asked growers of 17 listed crops to enroll under the scheme.
The revamped scheme has been termed as Karnataka Raitha Suraksha Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. In Mysuru district, the scheme covers 17 crops, which include 9 food grains, 3 oilseeds, 1 commercial and 4 horticultural crops. The Government has entered into an agreement with ICICI Lombard General Insurance company for implementation of Crop Insurance scheme. As per norms, all farmers who have been sanctioned crop loans by Banks, will be mandatorily brought under the scheme. However, those loanee farmers who do not want to be part of the Crop Insurance scheme, have to give an affidavit at least 7 days before and subsequently such farmers will be dropped from the scheme, according to a press release.
