Mysuru: The District Administration and ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), Bengaluru, have decided to hold Taluk-level camps for distribution of aids to specially-abled persons and identification of beneficiaries at the following places across the district in the month of June.
A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Anuradha here recently.
The camps also aim at surveying and providing senior citizens with age-related disability/infirmity particularly low vision, hearing impairment, loss of teeth and locomotor disability, with assisted-living devices that would restore near normalcy in their bodily functions to overcome the disability.
It also decided to hold such camps at Guru Bhavans in all the Taluk Headquarters. It will be held in Periyapatna on June 10; at K.R. Nagar on June 11; Hunsur on June 12; H.D.Kote and Saragur on June 13; Nanjangud on June 14 and T. Narasipur on June 15.
The Mysuru City and Rural-level camp will be held on June 18 at the District Rehabilitation Centre in Tilaknagar.
The aids and assisstive devices that will be distributed includes tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, chairs for orthopaedically-impaired persons, Braille kits and hearing aids.
Besides, MSID kit for mentally challenged, ADL kit & Cell phone, tablet, smart phone and smart cane for Leprosy patients, motorised tricycles, motorised wheel chair, joy stick-operated callipers, artificial limbs will be distributed to needy persons.
The Additional DC has appealed all differently-abled persons to make use of the camp.
