Mysore/Mysuru: Drivers of a car and an auto had a miraculous escape when a huge branch of a Gulmohar tree fell on top of the vehicles near JSS Mahavidyapeetha close to Gun House Circle yesterday evening.
It is learnt that both the drivers had parked their vehicles near JSS Mahavidyapeetha and at about 5.30 pm, the auto driver, who heard the sound of the branch cracking, left the auto behind and fled to a safe distance. But the car driver was seated inside the car and fortunately the huge branch fell on the rear portion of the car damaging it. Luckily, the car driver escaped without a scratch.
Local residents said that a roadside vendor sells papaya fruits beneath the tree and yesterday he left the spot at about 3.30 pm as he had some work. The vendor sells the fruit beneath the tree till about 6 pm and if he was still there, a major mishap would have taken place, the residents added.
The public immediately contacted MCC officials and MCC Abhaya team, which arrived at the spot, cleared the branch fallen on the vehicles, said former Corporator B.V. Manjunath.
