Mysuru: An incident of a car being damaged after hitting a cement pipe, has been reported near ISKCON Temple in Jayanagar here last evening.
The car belongs to one Vikram, a resident of Srirampura here. As UGD works had taken place on the road, the workers after completing the works of laying pipes, had closed the dug up portion on the road with mud which had caved-in resulting a big trench on the road.
As the officials concerned had not installed warning boards, many two-wheelers had fallen into the trench and had injured themselves following which some youths had placed the big cement pipe in front of the trench to warn other motorists.
But yesterday at about 7 pm, Vikram, after finishing his work was proceeding on the road in his Hyundai Car (KA-09-Z-7954). As it was drizzling, Vikram was unable to notice the cement pipe and rammed the car into it resulting in the right side front portion of the car being badly damaged.
Corporator Sunil Kumar, who rushed to the spot, called the officials concerned over the phone and took them to task for their carelessness and negligent way of working. Meanwhile, the residents of the surrounding, who expressed their anger over such careless works.
