Case registered against private company for allegedly cheating Housing Co-operative Society

Mysuru: Saraswathipuram Police have registered a case against private construction company for allegedly cheating a Housing Co-operative Society to the tune of crores of rupees.

The Head of Sri Ramakrishna House Building Co-operative Society Mysuru South, is the one who has lodged a complaint against the Directors and officials of Skill Tech Engineers and Contractors. He has alleged that the private company, for the benefit of Society members, had promised to buy land and form sites for Society members and cheated the Society to the tune of crores of rupees.

In 2006, Sri Ramakrishna House Building Co-op. Society had entered into an agreement with Shivashankar, Arun Kumar and Veeresh of Skill Tech Engineers & Contractors to construct houses for Society members.

Accordingly, the private company had agreed to provide 30 acres of land in Survey No. 45 at Hanchya and develop 181 sites on the said land and the Society had deposited Rs. 14,67,04,434 to the private company.

But instead of 30 acres of land, the private company had purchased just 12 acre of land and formed only 90 sites for which the private company had collected an additional amount of Rs. 2,63,47,614 (Rs. 95 per sq. ft.) from the Society members.

When a notice was served to the private company to provide the remaining 91 sites, the private company had asked for some time but failed to provide the sites later.

In the meantime, the private company, without the knowledge of the Society, had purchased 6 acre and 28 gunta land in Survey No. 126 at Hanchya, formed sites and has sold the sites to others, the complaint stated.

Based on the complaint, Saraswathipuram Police have registered a case and are investigating.
