Cash, ATM cards stolen from tourist’s purse: Rs. 75,000 withdrawn from various ATMs

Mysuru: Miscreants, have stolen Rs. 20,000 cash and two ATM cards of a tourist from Chennai and have also withdrew Rs. 75,000 from various ATMs in city.

The tourist who lost the cash and ATM cards has been identified as Balaji, a retired personnel from Chennai, who had come to city with his family for sightseeing.

Balaji, who came to city along with his family on May 17, hired a car from Railway Station Circle and went to visit the Mysore Palace at about 1.30 pm.   

When they returned to the car after seeing the Palace, they found that a different driver was in the car, who told them that the previous driver had to go due to some emergency work.

After visiting many tourist spots in city, the family left for Chennai and upon reaching the place, they came to know that Rs. 20,000 cash and two ATM cards kept in the purse had been stolen.

They later learnt that the miscreants had withdrawn a total of Rs. 75,000 from various ATMs on different dates using the stolen ATM cards.

Balaji, who returned to city on Wednesday, expressed doubts on the car drivers and lodged a complaint at Devaraja Police Station.

Devaraja Police personnel, who heard the  incident from Balaji, registered a case and have begun their investigations to bring the culprits to book and provide justice to Balaji.
