Mysore/Mysuru: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India), Mysore Centre in association with SK Super TMT Steel, Bangalore and Civil Engineering Department, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, had organised a unique quiz programme titled CATALYST-2022 for students of civil engineering recently at H. Kempegowda Sports Complex, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Mysuru. Six hundred students from 16 colleges of Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts participated in this event.
A preliminary online quiz was conducted to all students in teams comprising two students in each team of the institute. Based on their performance, twelve teams qualified for semi-finals oral quiz. Two oral semi-finals each having six teams was conducted by quiz masters Dr. G.S. Suresh, Chairman, CATALYST-2022 and Er. T.H. Sadashiva Murthy, Professor, NIE, Mysuru.
The questions of written test and semi-finals oral quiz were based on civil engineering. Top three teams from each semifinal were selected for final oral quiz. The Quiz Master for final oral quiz was Meghavi Manjunath of Quiz Mantra, Bengaluru. Meghavi Manjunath is a well-known anchor in Chandana Channel. Final oral quiz was based on Civil Engineering, General Knowledge, Sports and Movies. Cash prizes of Rs. 50,000 were awarded to winners, runners, qualifiers and also for audience.
M.K. Varun Kumar and S. Abhishek of MIT Thandavapura were the winners of CATALYST-2022 quiz.
A.S. Upadhyay, General Manager of SK Super TMT Steel, Bengaluru, was the chief guest. Srishaila Ramannavar, Hon. Treasurer, Vidyavardhaka Sangha and Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal, VVCE, Mysuru, were guests of honour. Gundappa Gowda, President, Vidyavardhaka Sangha, presided. Dr. S.K. Prasad, HoD, VVCE, Mysuru, Er. H.S. Deepak, Chairman, ACCE(I), Er. Shashiraj, Secretary, ACCE(I), Dr. G.S. Suresh, Chairman, CATALYST-2022, members of ACCE(I) and faculty of VVCE were present.
