Cauvery Calling: Discovery Channel shoots at UoM Department

Mysuru/Mysore:  As part of a documentary for Discovery Channel’s ‘Cauvery Calling,’ Dr. Asna Urooj, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Studies in Food Science & Nutrition, University of Mysore (UoM), was recently interviewed by Lisa Sabina Harney, Producer & Director, Discovery Channel, BBC.

The interview was held at the Department premises in Manasagangothri campus. 

The interview covered various issues like nutritional and functional importance of various food groups, the impact of nutrition transition on food habits, health, the increasing trends in the prevalence of non- communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and cancer among the Indian population, changes in dietary pattern, ethno-geographic disparities in disease prevalence and diverse dietary pattern across India. 

The documentary also focused on the impact of deforestation, climate change  on agriculture, crop cultivation and its impact on human health. The film is slated for release in May 2020.
