Cell phone thief arrested

Four phones worth about Rs.55,000, Rs.30,000 cash recovered

Mysuru: Nazarbad Police have arrested a person on charges of stealing cell phones and have recovered four cell phones and cash besides seizing a two-wheeler from him.

The accused is 36-year-old Raja, a resident of Chikka Ankanahalli village in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district.

Nazarbad Police, who had registered a case of miscreants stealing cell phones and cash from the boot of a scooter near the Golf Club, had taken up the investigation and on Mar.2 conducted an operation near Akki Chowk on Irwin Road and arrested the accused.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of stealing the cell phones and cash and based on the information provided by the accused, the Police recovered four cell phones worth about Rs.55,000 and Rs.30,000 cash from him besides seizing a bike used                for the crime. DCP Mutthuraju and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP Gajendra Prasad supervised Nazarbad Inspector M. Mahadevaswamy, SI N.R. Bhavya, ASI Govinda Nayaka and staff B.V. Prakash, Rajendra, H.V. Madhukesh, V. Srinivasa, P. Chethan and H.S. Chethan in the nabbing operation, according to a press release from City Police Commissioner’s Office.
