Mysuru: Accusing the Centre of clipping the wings of Labour Laws which were framed following 150 years of struggle by the working class, Senior Advocate from Bengaluru Clifton D’Rozario alleged that with the RSS backed BJP Government at the Centre, moves are being made to change the Constitution. He was speaking at a seminar on the ‘Impact of recently passed UAPA Act, Right To Information Act, Trade Unions Act and such other Acts’ jointly organised by Akhila Bharath Praja Vedike, PUCL and Mysuru Responsible Citizens, at Rotary Hall on JLB Road here on Saturday.
Accusing the Centre of flouting the Constitution by diluting pro-Labour clauses such as minimum wages, payment of wages and bonus, equal pay for equal work etc., Rozario flayed the Central Government’s decision to fix minimum wage at Rs.176 per day which is grossly inadequate in these days.
Claiming that the BJP-led Union Government was issuing licences to industrialists without a proper check, he accused the NDA Government of pushing Laws, Acts and Bills sans any debate or discussion, which is dangerous to our Parliamentary system of Democracy.
Claiming that the Centre abrogated Article 370 after ensuring that no Kashmiri ventured out of homes, Rozario questioned the Centre’s decision to grant 10 percent reservation to the economically weaker sections.
Alleging that an innocent advocate who worked for tribal causes has been arrested, he strongly condemned the alleged efforts being made to privatise public sector units, Railways etc.
Advocate B.T. Venkatesh too spoke. Maj. General (retd.) S.G. Vombatkere, Kalimullah and others were present.
