Centre asked to resume air services from Mysuru: Minister

Mysuru – The air passenger traffic between Mysuru and Bengaluru is less as there is no demand for air travel, said Medium and Large Scale Industries Minister R.V. Deshpande.

He was speaking to mediapersons at an interaction at MLA Vasu’s residence in Jayalakshimpuram here this morning.

“People can travel within two-and-a-half-hours from Bengaluru to Mysuru and vice versa by road and train. We have been demanding the Centre to introduce connecting flights via Mysuru towards Chennai, Hyderabad and other cities as it would boost the industrial and tourism sectors,” said Deshpande.

He said that a letter in this regard had been written to Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and hoped that Mysuru would be included under the UDAN Project for which the route map is being prepared by the Central Government.

Stating that the Siddharamaiah-led government had given importance for industrial sector, Deshpande said that their Government had provided the necessary facilities for construction of Asian Paints unit at Adakanahalli and added that emphasis would be given to manufacturing units as they generate employment to local residents.

MLA Vasu was also present at the interaction.
